Resort Information
Lamud Island Resort is on Lamud Island in the Philippines' Calamian Island chain, in a region known as Northern Palawan. The Calamian Island chain is a warm and magical place steeped in mystery, romance, and adventure.
Lamud Island is situated in waters between the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea. These waters include many naturally protected bays and reefs hidden amongst dozens of islands.
Lamud Island Resort is a family run tropical vacation and dive paradise. Our beach, dive shop, restaurant and lodgings are set on 14 hectares, between the jungle covered hills and the sea. Come and join us for a relaxing holiday or find adventure in magnificent natural surroundings.
The Calamian Islands are recognized as one of the last unspoiled marine environments and animal habitats in the world. Fortunately the area has begun to benefit from public and private environmental preservation efforts.
Lamud Island Resort offers an eco-friendly vacation experience and strives to ensure the protection of the environment and waters that surround the island.
There are no cars on the island. The cultivation of oysters by several pearl farms in the area also helps limit environmentally destructive fishing practices, and protects the growth of a wide variety of underwater species of fish and coral.
Green Sea Turtles and Giant Clams, both endangered species, can be seen in the waters off of Lamud Island.
Lamud Island Resort is secluded but has easy access to a host of excellent diving and snorkeling spots, including spectacular coral reefs and a dozen shipwrecks including Japanese wrecks from World War II. The local wreck diving is gaining an international reputation.
The larger, populated islands of Busuanga and Culion are both a 30 minute boat ride away from Lamud. Access to Lamud Island Resort is made convenient with daily 1 hour flights between Busuanga and Manila, as well as a weekly ferry which makes the trip in 12 hours.
Guests can also be picked up from anywhere on Busuanga Island, the most popular pick up spots being Coron town, which is a 1 1/2 hour boat ride from Lamud through a spectacular inter-island passage, and Concepcion town, less than a 30 minute boat trip away.
One claim to fame is that there are no roosters at the resort, which allows for a good nights sleep, the only drawback being that you have to go elsewhere if you would like to experience a traditional Philipino cockfight.
